Firstly you will need to ensure that you are thoroughly familiar with the letter names of the notes, preferably in both treble and bassclefs, but especially in the clef that you will be reading most often e.g. treble clef for Tenors and bass clef for Baritones and Basses.

Learn these short sentences for the notes on the lines and on the spaces. N.B. The notes on the treble clef spaces just spell the word "FACE" and you don't need a sentence to remember them.
